LIFTology Ep 25: LIFTing Learning

**This is the Final Episode of Season 1 of LIFTology!

Developing a skill requires sustained and nuanced practice. Elevating learning involves breaking up the learning process into smaller chunks or LIFTs, and spacing them out over time to reinforce and build upon previous learning.

LIFT stands for Learning Interventions Fueling Transformation.

When your L&D team embraces the process of creating an engagement of LIFTs to reinforce the learning objectives of your in-person and virtual synchronous trainings, you are committing to leveraging the potent combination of hashtag#technology and the hashtag#scienceoflearning, which will:

• Increase the likelihood that the learning from those trainings will stick.

• Increase the likelihood that employee performance and behavior will positively

shift, and

• Increase the likelihood that your teams will achieve your organization's KPIs and OKRs as a result of investment in training.

That's because your one-off learning events are likely not nearly enough. For the participants of your trainings to learn new skills, whether technical skills or soft skills like further developing emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively, they need to be provided with the best possible conditions for learning to occur.

You can create those conditions by supporting your initial learning events with:

Spaced Learning via LIFTs, to provide opportunities for:

• Reactivation

• Retrieval Practice

• Elaboration

• Practice & Feedback

• Reflection

How are you leveraging learning science to ensure you are optimizing outcomes for your learners? And, how are you assessing the impact of those trainings?

As always, we partnered with our awesome board advisor, Clark Quinn who helped us develop LIFTology based on his work as a cognitive and learning sciences expert, so we can help you do what you do even better.

Ready to get new ideas about how to leverage the Science of Learning to increase the impact and return on investment in your trainings?
